Late afternoon light over a quiet cove on the Curacao coast

Two people, one week

A honeymoon island that is still a place

Genuinely adults-only resorts are rare here, so the sealed-bubble honeymoon is not really what this island offers. What it offers instead is small coves, a painted old town that stays lively after dark, and days you can have almost to yourselves.

What this page is, and is not

No packages, no setups, no theatre

Plenty of sites will sell you a proposal package for an island they have never stood on. We do not run occasion services and we do not resell them, so nothing on this page pretends otherwise. What is here is the honest version: the days that are genuinely good for two people, the areas worth basing in, the beaches our own records tag as quiet, and the one condition on each booking that would spoil a plan if you found it out late.

The evening

The sunset sail that stays quiet

Two sunset sails run here and they are genuinely different nights. This is the quieter one: open bar, finger foods, no music and no dance floor. The louder DJ catamaran is on our on-the-water page if that suits you better.

Opens on Viator to pick your date. Same price as booking direct. Curacao Playbook may earn a commission. How this works

Space of your own

The days with nobody else on them

The private beach-hopping day is your group only, with the route built around what you want to see; set it up early, because confirmation is manual and bookings close a day before departure. The superyacht crossing is the most comfortable way to reach Klein Curacao, with a private beach house on the other side, though its review base is thinner than the classic catamarans.

The photograph

Thirty minutes built for the camera

A clear-hulled kayak with a professional photo and video shoot included. It is not a paddling outing and the record says so; it is the shot, and it pairs with a Jan Thiel beach day rather than filling one.

Willemstad, on foot

The city half of a couples trip

Punda and Otrobanda on a local-guided walk through the UNESCO-listed streets. Book an early slot in high season: these streets have little shade and the route covers real ground.

Where to sleep

Pick the area first, then the room

On an island this size the neighbourhood decides your week far more than the property does. These are the guides that sort it, and they name the adults-only properties that genuinely are, along with the ones that only look it.

The quiet sand

The coves our own records tag as quiet

Not an editorial pick: these are the beaches whose records already carry a couples or quieter-swimming tag. They are small, and small means they fill on weekends.

Every fee on the island, in one table: beach fees and parking.

Straight answers

The questions couples actually ask

Is Curacao a good honeymoon island?

It suits couples who want a real place rather than a resort bubble: a UNESCO-listed old town, dozens of small coves, and reef you can reach from the sand. Go in knowing one thing, though. Genuinely adults-only properties are rare here. Only two on our verified list are adults-only island-wide; several more are marketed that way, including one whose own operator page says children are permitted, and one that is an adults-only wing inside an all-ages resort. Our adults-only guide names each of them.

Where should a couple base themselves?

It is a genuine three-way choice rather than a ranking. Willemstad and Pietermaai put restaurants and the old town on your doorstep and the beaches in the car. Jan Thiel and the Mambo strip put the beach clubs and the nightlife closest. Westpunt and the west end put the quietest water closest and everything else 45 minutes away. Our where-to-stay guide walks all three, and the hotel pages sort by area rather than by star rating.

Can you arrange a proposal or an anniversary setup through this site?

No, and we would rather say so than sell you something we do not run. We do not offer proposal packages, in-room setups or private chefs, and we do not resell them. What is genuinely bookable is a private day: the private beach-hopping and snorkeling tour is your group only with the route shaped around you. Confirmation is manual and bookings close a day before departure, so arrange it early in the trip rather than the night before. If you would like a hand building the week around it, our planning help is inquiry only and lives on the plan page.

Which sunset sail is the quiet one?

The Happy Hour cruise: about 2.5 hours from $75 per person, open bar and finger foods, no music and no dance floor. The party catamaran is the deliberately louder alternative with a DJ, so if you want a conversation rather than a dance floor, the quiet one is the pick and we have not put the party boat on this page.

Where are the quiet beaches?

Our beach records tag Kleine Knip (Kenepa Chikitu) and Daaibooi for couples and quieter swimming, and none of them charges an entrance fee. They are small, which is the point and also the catch: small beaches fill on weekends, so arriving early matters more than anything else you can plan.

Want a hand building the week rather than booking it piece by piece? Our planning help is inquiry only: you tell us what you are after, we reply by email, and nothing is charged on this site.
