Zoetry Curacao Review: The Adult-Oriented Resort That Used to Be Floris Suite Hotel (2026)

The quick answer

Zoetry Curacao Resort & Spa is the former Floris Suite Hotel. Floris closed permanently in April 2020, and the same 72-suite property on Piscadera Bay reopened under the Zoetry brand in November 2021, so the resort is not gone, only renamed. It is an adult-oriented, all-inclusive boutique resort with no beach of its own: guests use Il Mare, a beach club section reserved for adults at neighbouring Dreams Curacao, a short golf cart ride away.

Two different searches land people on this page. One is whether Zoetry Curacao is worth booking. The other is what happened to Floris Suite Hotel, usually typed by someone who found a farewell post announcing a permanent closure and concluded the resort is gone. It is not gone. It is the same building on Piscadera Bay under a new name.

One thing to say plainly first: this is our local team's assessment, not a report from an overnight stay. We have not slept in one of these suites. What follows is built from the resort's own published material and the patterns in current guest reporting, and where sources disagree we say so instead of quietly picking the flattering number.

The short answer

Zoetry Curacao Resort & Spa is a 72-suite all-inclusive boutique resort on Piscadera Bay, roughly ten minutes from the airport, and it is the former Floris Suite Hotel. Floris closed in April 2020 and the property reopened under the Zoetry brand in November 2021. Book it if you want the quietest all-inclusive on that stretch of coast and you care more about a calm pool, a large suite, and a short drive into Willemstad than about a beach outside your door. Look elsewhere if food variety is central to your trip, or if you need a guaranteed child-free resort.

What happened to Floris Suite Hotel?

Floris Suite Hotel, Spa & Beach Club closed permanently in April 2020, at the start of the pandemic shutdown, and the same property reopened in November 2021 as Zoetry Curacao Resort & Spa. The building did not close and stay closed. It was renovated and rebranded.

Why the confusion persists: the hotel's own farewell announcement is still online and still says closed permanently, which is accurate about the name and misleading about the place. Old Floris booking pages are still indexed too, and several of them now quietly resolve to Zoetry listings, which reads to a searcher like a switch rather than a rebrand. The farewell messaging also pointed people toward sister properties on the same bay, so anyone following that trail ends up somewhere other than the resort they were looking for.

The trade timeline lines up cleanly. AMR Collection announced the conversion in September 2021 for a November opening, describing it explicitly as a renovation of the former Floris Suite Hotel, and guests were posting from the property by early December 2021 citing a November 20 opening. That same month, Hyatt completed its acquisition of Apple Leisure Group, the parent of AMResorts, which is why a resort that opened as an AMR property now sits inside Hyatt's Inclusive Collection.

One useful piece of continuity: the room count did not change. Floris ran roughly 72 suites, and Hyatt still lists 72 suites today. If you stayed at Floris years ago, you are looking at the same footprint, renovated.

What Zoetry Curacao actually is

All-suite, 72 keys, in garden, tropical, or pool view categories, sold as Junior and Master Suites, each with a private balcony or terrace. Two restaurants on site: Bloom for international cooking with a Curacaoan lean, and Botanica for poolside food by day and grilled dishes at dinner. Three bars plus a wine cellar used for private dinners. One pool with a hot tub. A spa with sauna, steam room and rain shower, and a fitness center.

The all-inclusive tier is branded Endless Privileges, and on the service side it is more generous than most: a la carte dining with no reservations required, top-shelf spirits, 24-hour in-suite dining, a minibar refreshed twice daily, housekeeping three times a day plus nightly turndown, a 24-hour concierge, Wi-Fi and worldwide calling, and no fixed check-in or check-out times, which is genuinely rare.

Read the two footnotes, though, because that is where the marketing softens. The complimentary laundry is capped at three items per person per stay, and the spa inclusion is one 20-minute treatment per guest per stay, not open access to the spa. Both limits are stated plainly in Hyatt's own inclusion list. Neither is a scandal, but both are the difference between what a brochure implies and what actually arrives. One further oddity: the resort is pet friendly, small dogs under 10 kg for a nightly fee, which may not match the hushed wellness retreat you pictured.

Plan My Curacao Trip

The beach question, honestly

This is the single most important thing to understand before booking, and it is the thing most third-party listings blur.

Zoetry Curacao is not on a beach. Hyatt says so directly in its own FAQ for the property. What you get instead is access to Il Mare, the adults-only beachfront section attached to Dreams Curacao across the road, reached by a short golf cart ride or a walk. Il Mare has Bali beds, loungers, an infinity pool, and an open-air bar and grill, and by most accounts it is genuinely pleasant.

But a private beach club a golf cart ride away is a different product from stepping off your terrace onto sand. Beach time becomes a small decision every morning rather than the default, and the sand itself is a compact bay strip shared with another resort's guests, not a long open shore. If a beach at your door is the point of the trip, our beaches guide and our best hotels roundup will serve you better.

There is a footnote here that has never been resolved. When the conversion was announced, the plan included a beachfront extension called Spazio, 53 additional beachside rooms and suites, due to open in November 2022. Hyatt's current listings still show 72 suites and still state the resort is not directly on the beach, so that wing is not part of what you are booking. Do not let an older article about Spazio set your expectations.

Zoetry vs Dreams vs Sunscape

The honest answer starts by breaking up the trio. Zoetry and Dreams are the genuinely adjacent pair, across the road from each other on Piscadera Bay. Sunscape is the third Hyatt Inclusive Collection property on the island, but it is not a neighbour: it sits on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard in Bapor Kibra, on the Mambo Beach and Seaquarium strip, the other side of Willemstad. Hyatt's own arrival times show the gap, roughly ten minutes from the airport to Zoetry against roughly twenty to Sunscape.

Dreams Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino is the large all-ages one with the casino, and it is the historical anchor of the bay: it opened in 1967 as the Curacao Hilton and ran through names including Curacao Concorde, Sheraton, and Hilton Curacao before becoming Dreams in late 2019. It holds Il Mare, the adults-reserved section Zoetry guests use, and it is the only sibling Zoetry guests reach on foot or by golf cart. We are not quoting a room count for it, because Hyatt's own listing and the tour operators selling it do not agree. Full write-up in our Dreams Curacao review.

Sunscape Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino is the family and value pick and the largest of the three: 341 rooms and suites, six restaurants, seven bars, a casino, a kids' club for ages 3 to 12 and a teen club for 13 to 17, and snorkeling off its own beach. Because it is across town, Zoetry guests reach it only through the Sip, Savor & See program, an evening dinner visit running 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. that the concierge arranges by 3 p.m. that day. Useful for one night out, not the all-day access people assume when they see three resorts listed together. See our Sunscape Curacao review.

Zoetry is the small, quiet, expensive one. Seventy-two suites against Sunscape's 341 tells you most of what you need. It is the right pick if silence is what you are paying for, and the wrong pick if you want a beach, a casino, a buffet, or evening programming.

Two things worth correcting. These are not one family: Dreams is the former Hilton building, Zoetry is the former Floris Suite Hotel next door, and Sunscape descends from neither. And shared access cuts both ways: Zoetry itself is adult-oriented, but the wider complex you have the run of is not. Walk over to Dreams for dinner and you are in an all-ages resort with a kids' pool.

Zoetry vs Sandals Royal Curacao

Curacao's grown-ups-only shortlist is genuinely short. Sandals Royal Curacao is adults-only and says so unambiguously, Art Hotel Curacao is a small adults-only boutique that opened in Pietermaai in 2025, and Zoetry is the soft case of the three, since Hyatt's own page says children are permitted. More on that in the caveats below. Avila Beach Hotel is often listed as adults-only, but that applies to one room category, not the hotel.

Between the two adult-focused all-inclusives, the split is clean. Sandals Royal Curacao is built for couples, on the southeast coast near Santa Barbara, large and activity-dense, with the full Sandals dining and watersports machinery behind it. Zoetry is a 72-suite wellness-leaning boutique in the island's main resort corridor, with two restaurants and one pool.

So pick Sandals if you want the resort itself to be the trip, and Zoetry if you want a quiet base and intend to spend real time off the property, in Willemstad, at the beaches, and on the water. That second trip shape is the one Zoetry genuinely rewards, and it is underrated. Our Sandals Royal Curacao review goes deeper, and both appear in our adults-only guide and all-inclusive comparison.

Who it is for, and who should pick something else

Book Zoetry if you want the quietest resort on Piscadera Bay, you value a large suite and a calm pool over facilities, you plan to explore the island rather than stay put, or you are marking an anniversary or honeymoon and want low-key rather than programmed romance, covered further in our honeymoon guide. Pick something else if a beach outside your room is non-negotiable, you need variety at dinner every night, you want a casino, or you need a certified child-free environment. That last one brings us to the caveats.

The honest caveats

Food is the recurring complaint, and it looks structural rather than a bad week. Two restaurants across a whole stay means guests commonly report the same breakfast and dinner menus repeating, and the fix the resort offers is the golf cart over to Dreams. A boutique resort's best dining answer being the big resort next door is a real limitation.

Service is inconsistent, and this is the clearest pattern in current guest reporting: rooms, cleanliness and sleep quality are rated well, while service and value are rated markedly lower. Guests commonly praise individual staff warmly and, in the same review, describe housekeeping requests going unanswered until chased in person. Many also note that the property does not feel like the top of the Zoetry brand.

The adults-only question needs care, and it is the caveat we would most want a friend to hear. The resort is marketed and widely listed as adults-only, and most booking sites show a minimum check-in age of 18. But Hyatt's own page for this property carries the line that it is adult-oriented and children are permitted. Those two positions cannot both be strictly true. If a child-free resort is the actual reason you are booking, confirm it in writing with the resort before you pay, and remember that shared access to Dreams puts you in an all-ages resort either way.

Two smaller things: the pool is one pool, and guests often describe it as small whatever the brochure language suggests, and mosquitoes around the pool and lobby come up often enough that we would pack proper repellent.

The bottom line

Zoetry Curacao is a real, open, well-kept 72-suite resort, and if you arrived here worried that Floris Suite Hotel had vanished, it did not. Only the name did.

Whether you should book it comes down to one honest question: do you want a beach resort, or a quiet, service-heavy base for a Curacao trip that happens mostly off the property? It is genuinely good at the second and it is not the first, however the listings are worded. Frequently Asked Questions

What happened to Floris Suite Hotel in Curacao?

Floris Suite Hotel, Spa & Beach Club closed permanently in April 2020 and the same property on Piscadera Bay reopened in November 2021 as Zoetry Curacao Resort & Spa after a renovation. The resort is still open; only the name changed. Its old farewell post and old booking listings are still online, which is why searchers often assume it is gone.

Is Zoetry Curacao adults only?

It is marketed and widely listed as adults-only, and it was adults-only under the Floris name. However, Hyatt's own page for the property states that it is adult-oriented and children are permitted. If a strictly child-free resort is the reason you are booking, confirm it in writing with the resort first.

What is the minimum age at Zoetry Curacao?

Most booking sites list a minimum check-in age of 18, the same minimum the property used under the Floris Suite Hotel name. Because Hyatt's own material also says children are permitted, treat 18 as the booking rule rather than a guarantee that no children will be on site, and confirm directly with the resort if it matters.

Does Zoetry Curacao have a beach?

No, not its own. Hyatt states in its own FAQ that the resort is not directly on the beach. Guests instead get access to Il Mare, the adults-only beachfront section at Dreams Curacao across the road, a short golf cart ride away, with an infinity pool, Bali beds, loungers, and an open-air bar and grill.

Is Zoetry Curacao all-inclusive, and what is included?

Yes, under the Endless Privileges tier: a la carte dining with no reservations required, top-shelf spirits, 24-hour in-suite dining, a twice-daily refreshed minibar, housekeeping three times daily, nightly turndown, no fixed check-in or check-out times, Wi-Fi and worldwide calling. Two limits are worth knowing: laundry is capped at three items per person per stay, and the spa inclusion is one 20-minute treatment per guest per stay.

Zoetry Curacao or Sandals Royal Curacao?

Sandals Royal Curacao is adults-only and built for couples, larger and activity-dense on the southeast coast near Santa Barbara, and it suits travellers who want the resort to be the trip. Zoetry is a quiet 72-suite boutique near the airport and Willemstad with two restaurants and one pool, better suited to a trip spent largely off the property.
